You are the supervisor of ten employees. Last week, you and the other supervisors received a directive from headquarters. It read: "Effective January 1, all sections will be expected to reduce their staff by 20 percent. This should present no hardship since it is forecast that the workload will also be reduced by the same percentage. Please make plans accordingly." You looked over you're your employee list and selected for transfer or termination the employee who was least productive. You told yourself, "I will notify Tom of this decision on January 1."
List potential problems that might interfere with your plans for a reduction in force.
How should you go about making this decision?
