The Distance Education Veterinary Assisting Program is composed of twelve courses which include veterinary specific course modules and general education courses. DEVAP is the equivalent of Cedar Valley College's onsite veterinary assisting certificate program. However, the curriculum is broken down into different courses than that of the onsite program. The entire program is the equivalent of 20 semester credit hours of college level instruction. The veterinary specific course modules in DEVAP are composed of 9 non-credit course modules. These 9 modules are the equivalent of 4 of our onsite credit courses. When you complete all 9 courses, you will receive credit toward those 4 credit courses for a total of 10 semester credit hours. The remaining 10 semester credit hours is completed in general education credit courses. Three general education courses in the areas of English or Speech Communication, Biology, and Math must be completed. If you have previous college experience, you may have courses that will transfer for these requirements. Click here for a graphical representation of the program structure |
