Most instructors in the DCCCD ask that students use MLA (Modern Language Association) format when writing a research paper. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (PE1478.M57) is the authority on MLA format. Be sure to visit their web page titled MLA Style by the Modern Language Association.

Another popular format used in college research papers is APA (American Psychological Association). Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (BF76.7.P83) should be consulted for APA format. And, for papers requiring the Chicago Manual of Style, you will need to consult Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations by Kate L. Turabioan (LB2369.T8).
