Discussion

An organization is only as unique as its mission or purpose. Vague mission statements, written to cover every possibility, but not specific to an organization's vision and values, does nothing to show customers what the organization has to offer that is different.

Evaluate several mission statements within the same industry. From the mission statements, answer the following questions.

How are the organizations differentiated?

What do they offer that is different?

What do they offer that is special in some way?

What distinguishes one organization from another?

How well does the mission statement position each organization in the competitive marketplace?
