Define the following key concepts.

Channel is the path a message follows from the sender to the receiver.

Communication is the process of passing information and understanding from one person to another.

Decode is to put meaning to the message.

Encode is to put a message into words or images.

Feedback is the transfer of information from the receiver back to the sender.

Grapevine exists outside the formal channels and is used by people to transmit casual, personal, and social interchanges at work.

Medium is the means of communication.

Message is the information that the sender wants to transmit.

Noise is anything that interferes with the communication.

Nonverbal communication includes images, actions and behaviors used to transmit messages.

Receiver is the person or group for whom the communication effort is intended.

Sender initiates the communication process.

Accountability is answering for the result of one's actions or omissions.

Authority is the formal and legitimate right to make decisions, give orders, and allocate resources.

Delegation is the downward transfer of formal authority from superior to subordinate.

Responsibility is the obligation to do assigned tasks.
