Follow up Session - when behavior is not corrected
1. Specify the exact issue to be resolved and explain why the behavior cannot continue.
2. Ask for and listen actively to the employee's reasons for the continued behavior.
3. After hearing the explanation, decide if disciplinary action is necessary. Indicate specifically what the disciplinary action will be, your reasons for it, and when the action will take place.
4. If the action is not termination, emphasize that it is the employee's responsibility to solve the problem, but that you are willing to help any way you can.
5. Schedule a follow up meeting to re-examine the problem. If the follow up reveals no change in behavior, continue with subsequent steps in the disciplinary process.
6. Document the date and content of the meeting.
