The Loudermill or Pre-Disciplinary Meeting

A public employee must be given a hearing prior to being terminated. The U.S. Supreme Court has held that an employee is entitled to oral or written notice of the charges, an explanation of the employer's evidence and an opportunity to present his or her side of the story. Cleveland Board of Education v. Loudermill, 470 U.S. 532, 84 L.Ed. 2d 494, 105 S.Ct. 1487 (1985).
