Dallas County Community College DistrictMISSION STATEMENT of the Distance Education Veterinary Technology Program
The Distance Education Veterinary Technology Program (DEVTP) adheres to the purpose and spirit of the College Mission Statement: "Cedar Valley College maintains an institutional environment of excellence which facilitates and encourages learning, which emphasizes and values quality education, which champions diversity, which promotes student well-being, and which creates a public understanding and commitment to the college and its value to the community." In brief, the DEVTP strives to foster knowledge, to open the minds of students to that knowledge, and to enable students to take the best advantage of their educational opportunities.
Vision of the Distance Education Veterinary Technology Program
To meet the goals in the mission statement, the DEVTP encourages students to respect ideas, encourage free expression, rejoice in discovery and in critical thought; pursue excellence in the spirit of the team concept of veterinary medicine; and assume responsibility for the consequences of personal actions. The DEVTP seeks to continually identify and remove restraints on students full participation in the educational process, so that individuals may explore their capabilities and talents and develop fully to their personal, intellectual and human potential. Participation in the DEVTP should stimulate and encourage students to explore, create, challenge, and lead. The support and resources of the Dallas County Community College District and Cedar Valley College provides a foundation upon which self-reliance and habits of scholarship and service are built. The DEVTP expects that the knowledge and collegiality it works to foster in its students will lead them to advance their profession, promote life long learning, and serve all aspects of their profession in harmony with the greater human community.
