how to access student course sites

Here are instructions on how to access and use Blackboard. Blackboard is the trade name of the course management system that we use in each of our courses.

  1. The very first thing you need is your student’s Identification Number. This number should be mailed to you preceptor in your preceptor packet, or you can call us at 1-877-353-3482 at the start of the first week of class during our regular campus hours of 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Central (Texas) time, Monday through Friday. You must have this number to access Blackboard.
  2. Then open your browser, preferably Internet Explorer, to: http://www.dcccd.edu/ On the next page in the section titled “Online Services” click on “eCampus-Attend Class”. That will then take you to the ecampus Blackboard entry site, and then click on the semester in which your student(s) are enrolled. If you have any difficulties accessing eCampus, immediately contact a staff member by phone at 1-877-353-3482, during our regular campus hours.
  3. Then click on Please click here to login. On the next page, enter the student Identification Number with a lower case e in front as both the username and password. (Such as e123456 and e123456) Then click on "Login". Students are instructed to NEVER change their passwords.
  4. You should then see a page with five tabs under the Dallas County Community College District Logo and an announcement that says “Welcome” with your student’s first name. Please click on the tab at the top labeled “Courses”. This will take you to the individual course site(s). Once you are in the site, you are encouraged to open each section and read the information. Each course site will be very similar, but some of the information for each course may vary, so please read through all of the documents in each of your courses carefully.
  5. The "Course Documents" button is an area where important information or instructions will be posted in addition to the materials and information found in the workbook.
  6. Open the section labeled “Student Tools”, and then on the “Check Grades” By clicking on it all of your student’s grades for that class will pop up. This is how you know how your student(s) are doing and whether or not we received their assignments.
